Lot 4094
Octavian, 44-27 BC. Denarius (Subaeratus, 19 mm, 2.94 g, 7 h), a contemporary plated imitation, after 29 BC. CAESAR COS Wreathed head of Octavian (or Julius Caesar?) to right; behind, lituus. Rev. AEGVPTO / CAPTA Crocodile standing right. Cf. Babelon (Julia) 148, BMC 650, Cohen 2, CRI 430 and RIC 275a (for prototype of the reverse). Breaks in plating and with scrapes and scratches, otherwise, very fine.

The obverse of this interesting plated imitation likely mixes up Octavian's Aegypto Capta type with a wreathed portrait of Julius Caesar.
